Habits to Adopt for a Healthier Week

Healthy Living

Being healthier doesn't have to mean overhauling your entire lifestyle. Sometimes all it takes is a few simple changes. From sneaking in more veggies to going on an easy morning walk, these quick-and-easy tweaks to your daily health regimen can make a huge difference in the way you feel.

Drink More Water

You hear this all the time, but it’s not as hard as you think! Start by drinking one extra glass of water per day. An easy way to hold yourself accountable? Set an alarm on your phone so you drink one glass of water before you leave the house in the morning.

Go Green

Incorporating more greens into your meals adds nutrients and water to your diet. The fiber in lettuce helps fill you up and is only 20 calories per serving. Dark, leafy greens are the most nutritious and the most flavorful. Big fan of iceberg? No worries. Even the popular, pale iceberg lettuce provides water, fiber and folate.

Stand Up More

“Move your body, no matter how briefly, to stop the stress response in its tracks and change the channel on your mood”, says Lisa Oz, author of US: Transforming Ourselves and the Relationships That Matter Most.

Get Outside

Taking a short walk outside the office or even eating lunch outdoors can boost your mood (and burn a few calories!).

Wash Those Sheets

Dust mites, a major allergy trigger, love to hang out in your bed. Launder sheets and pillowcases every week in hot water to rid them of mites. Also smart: Use mattress and duvet covers designed to keep mites out.

Guarantee Better Sleep

Don’t bring screens into the bedroom (no phones or tablets). Instead, wind down by reading a book, talking to your partner or listening to calming music. Try to go to sleep at the same time each night.
